When can I enroll in Medicare in New Mexico?
Your Initial Enrollment Period begins 3 months before your 65th birthday month and ends 3 months after. The Annual Enrollment Period runs October 15 through December 7 each year. The Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period is January 1 through March 31.

Does New Mexico have a Medigap open enrollment guarantee?
Yes. Federal law gives you a one-time 6-month Medigap Open Enrollment Period that begins when you are 65 or older and enrolled in Medicare Part B. During this period, insurance companies cannot deny you coverage or charge higher premiums due to pre-existing conditions, although a waiting period of up to 6 months for pre-existing conditions can apply if you did not have prior creditable coverage. Starting January 1, 2027, New Mexico's Senate Bill 21 adds a yearly window, opening in your birthday month, for people who already have Medigap to switch to a plan of equal or lesser value without health questions.
